As the National Team Coach for multiple countries including Venezuela, Hong Kong, Latvia, and Singapore, Ruben has guided teams to numerous international successes. His coaching tenure has produced gold medalists in World Championships, Asian Games, and more. Ruben has served as Master Coach at the Kegel Training Center and designed the World Coaching Certification Program. His extensive publications and contributions to the development of bowling programs globally solidify his expertise. Ruben brings unparalleled knowledge and passion to the Bowlers Link coaching team.
Ruben Ghiragossian is a distinguished and highly experienced bowling coach, whose career spans over five decades. Starting his bowling journey in 1971, Ruben represented Venezuela in international competitions from 1979 to 1993, earning numerous medals and becoming the Venezuelan National Champion in 1981.
Ruben’s coaching career is as illustrious as his playing days. He has served as the National Team Coach for several countries, including Venezuela, Hong Kong, Latvia, England, Singapore, Indonesia, Catalonia, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico. His coaching tenure has resulted in national and international successes, with his teams securing gold medals in World Championships, American Zone and Asian Zone Championships, Asian Games, AMF World Cup, SEA Games, East Asian Games, Youth World Championships, Asian Zone Youth Championships, South American Games, and Central American Games.
His significant coaching roles include:
- Venezuela (1992-2000): Continued as an acting coach on a part-time basis.
- World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) Roving Coach (2000-2002): Assisted in global coaching development.
- Hong Kong (2002-2006): Implemented eight development programs and led national teams to international events.
- Latvia (2005-2007): Developed national adult and youth teams for international competitions.
- Indonesia (2005-2006, 2009): Implemented development programs and led national teams.
- Singapore (2004-2010): Trained coaches for certification and developed youth programs.
- Catalonia (2009-2013): Implemented a four-year development program and upgraded coaching standards.
Currently, Ruben serves as the National Head Coach for Guatemala and the National Team Advisor for Ecuador, where he continues to develop national team programs and youth development initiatives.
Ruben has also been a Master Coach at the Kegel Training Center (2016-2018), where he designed a comprehensive World Coaching Certification Program. His contributions to the sport include numerous publications such as the WTBA Coaching Certification Program Level 3 and 4 manuals, and the Singapore Coaching Manual. He has also authored advanced coaching programs covering topics like two-hand bowling, timing mechanics, direction, speed, and release modules, and the art of scoring.
In addition to his coaching accomplishments, Ruben has held various administrative roles, including:
